Citizenship Programme

In order to develop a proactive dynamic of ‘community involvement’ in the Group, Societe Generale has initiated our Citizenship Programme in early 2008. The program focuses on the common global theme of social inclusion via education.
The Citizen Commitment Week -Every year, Societe Generale staff are invited to discover or learn more about local charity. In China, Societe Generale has had a series of events including donation to the Sichuan Earthquake, donation of books and other educational equipments as well as encouraging staff to take public transportation and donate the savings from taxi fares and automobile gasoline bills. In 2009, Societe Generale (China) Limited ran four campaigns during the week and raised donation funds for the Beijing Dandelion School’s Dream Center in Daxing District. On June 20, 2009,employees with their friends and families in the 5 cities of Societe Generale (China) Limited enjoyed the Community Clean-Up Family Day, a triumphant celebration of community service.

Education:
• “Cherished Dream China Education Foundation” - Societe Generale China has partnered with the Cherished Dream China Education Foundation (“CDCEF”) to promote the education of students and teachers in some of China’s most challenged communities. In 2008, Societe Generale (China) Limited has successfully sponsored five Dream Centres in Sichuan Province with support by CDCEF.
• Develop Engineering Talents - Societe Generale (China) Limited is a partner with Ecole Centrale Pekin at Beihang University to develop China’s engineering talents.
• Citizen Act - Societe Generale (China) Limited participated in our global Citizen Act program, a Corporate Social Responsibility Business Game which has been open to students from everywhere in the world. In the recent 3rd edition of Citizen Act, over 600 students from 30 countries participated and presented their projects on the theme of inventing a bank and using its activities to create a more responsible world. Students from Tsing Hua University of China won the second award.

Environment:
Since September 2008, Societe Generale (China) Limited has been sponsoring cycling cultural festivals and amateur cycling tours in China to promote our commitment to green environment. As of today, in Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin etc, where the tours has been held, Societe Generale cycling events have attracted thousands of environmental protection volunteers to join and more than 1,000 cyclists to compete.
